Day 1: Welcome to Sicily
Arrival and transfer to our first hotel in the Catania area, depending on the possibility of free time arrivals in the center of Catania. Presentation of the tour by your guide, dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 2: Etna - Taormina
Crossing lemon and orange plantations with unique landscape views towards the largest active volcano in Europe, Etna. The journey takes us to the "Silvestri crater" at about 2,000 m. of height. From here with the cable car (optional) at 2,600 m. or jeep up to about 3,000 m. (price around € 60.00). In the afternoon continue to Taormina, the ancient "Tauromenion" founded 358 BC Here we visit the Ancient Theater, with its unique view over the bay of Giardini Naxos and Etna. Later, visit the Taormina public garden with its botanical rarities. The afternoon is at your leisure for a pleasant walk in the historic center. Dinner and overnight at the hotel
Day 3: Cefalù - Palermo
After breakfast, departure for Cefalù, the beautiful medieval town on the north side of the island. Here we will visit the Norman dome and the Arabic car wash. Then free time to stroll through the beautiful streets of the city and go shopping. In the afternoon, we will visit Palermo, where you will see the imposing cathedral, which has always been the historic center of the city, but also of the whole island: here the kings of the Normans and the Hohen Staufers and the deceased were crowned their imperial tombs. We will visit the "Palatine Chapel" in the Norman Palace, the "most perfect work of Christian art". The walls of the arcades and the vaults are covered with golden mosaics and provide luminous representations of the Bible, the saints and the life of Jesus Christ.
Then we will do an orientation tour through the main streets of Palermo, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Segesta - Erice - Trapani
Today we will leave for Segesta, in the archeology area we will visit the temple in perfect condition which lies in a splendid landscape and also the amphitheater on Mount Barbaro, as well as the new excavations of the former Elymian city. Later we will continue to Erice, stroll through the medieval streets and enjoy the famous almond biscuits. A visit to the beautiful city of Trapani completes the daily program.
Day 5: Selinunte - Agrigento - Piazza armerina
Visit of Selinunte, one of the largest archaeological excavation cities in Europe, with temples, the Acropolis, the pillars of Temple E and the enormous ruins of the temple of Apollo. From Weiterfach to Agrigento, drive to the temple valley of Agrigento, here you visit the world cultural city, which described Pindar as the "most beautiful city of mortals". Take a long walk and see, among other things. the Temple of Hera, the Temple of Concord, the Temple of Heracles, the Temple of Zeus and the Temple of Castor and Pollux, which will seduce you in the mythical city of antiquity. Continue to Piazza Armerina, here visit the Villa Romana Casale, which presumably served as a luxurious country residence for a member of the Roman aristocracy, and is once again a World Heritage Site of the first order. The floors of the 40 rooms are covered with almost completely preserved mosaics, for a total area of around 3,000 square meters.
Day 6: Caltagirone - Noto - Syracuse
Visit to Caltagirone, the center of the island's ceramics and an important Baroque city, famous for the monumental staircase that leads to Santa Maria la Nuova. Each stage is decorated with hand-painted majolica ceramics, some of which depict the history of the city. A walk through the public garden, with its magnificent terrace overlooking Mount Etna. Later he drove to Noto, which along with 7 additional cities, in the south-east of the world cultural heritage of Sicilian baroque. Then you will reach Syracuse, the largest and most powerful city of the Greek era. Here you can visit the archaeological area first, see the "Latomie del Paradiso" and the Seiler grotta, and the ear of Dionysus, the theater, the sacrificial altar of Hieron and the Roman amphitheater. Continue towards Ortigia, where you will see the historic center of Syracuse and take a walk to the Fonte Aretusa, the Duomo and the Temple of Apollo. Then we embark to pozzallo with the catamaran and we leave for Malta,
Day 7 La Valletta
The guided tour of Valletta starts at the Barracca Gardens, to enjoy the view of the Grand Harbor and the Three Cities. In the Cathedral of San Giovanni we admire a painting by Caravaggio. At the Grand Master's Palace we visit the State Rooms and the Sala degli Arazzi, free time in the city, in the afternoon visit to the Archaeological Museum and Fort St Elmo. Dinner in hotel.
Day 8 Blue cave and Tarxien temples
The guided tour starts in the Zurrieq valley where, weather permitting, the boat tour is planned to discover the natural caves, such as the Blue Grotto. Stop at the multicolored village of Marsaxlokk. We visit the Tarxien Temples, archaeological site of 3600-2500 BC, and the Cave of Ghar Dalam to observe the traces of the first men on the island. Dinner in hotel.
Day 9 Gozo Island
We embark soon to visit the legendary island of Gozo. We will admire the temples of antigantija, the best preserved in the whole island, and the city; fortified medieval Cittadella, historic defensive bulwark against Saracen raids. After lunch, stop at the quaint fishing village on Xlendi Bay and in the beautiful Dwejra Bay. Return to the hotel and optional typical dinner.
Day 10 Musta - Mdina Vittoriosa and Senglea
Today we visit Musta, in the center of the island. We continue to the ancient Phoenician city of "Maleth", today Mdina. We walk among the suggestive and quiet lanes, we enjoy the panorama that can be enjoyed from its ramparts, and we admire the Cathedral, a wonderful mix of styles and architecture. In the afternoon it is the turn of the Three Cities of which we will visit the main ones: Vittoriosa and Senglea. Dinner in hotel.
Day 11 Goodbye
After breakfast (depending on departure times) transfer to the airport and end of services.
