The "experiential" and "sustainable" trip for those who want to know the most genuine and authentic Sicily, with all its facets. You will explore the many UNESCO sites that Sicily has: Temples and Greek theaters, Roman architecture, cathedrals of Norman origin and Arab testimonies, without ever neglecting the mythical landscape with its breathtaking views, crystal clear seas and everything that characterizes this extraordinary land. Short and easy walks in reserves and nature parks, with all the species-rich flora that become magical in every season, will further enrich this trip. Particular attention is paid to the typical Sicilian cuisine, with its simple but tasty ingredients that with its knowledge and traditions, and not only, will explore idyllic and rural lands that will fascinate every visitor.

This is how we will go

Program: From Palermo, Trapani and Catania (transfer by regional bus)

1° Day

Erice area

Arrival in Palermo or Trapani or Catania (with regional bus) Reception by our staff and transfer to the booked accommodation in the Trapani area. KM 70

2° Day

Zingaro Park, S.V. lo Capo, Erice

 

After breakfast drive to Scopello to Zingaro Park, a beautiful nature reserve by the sea. Here it grows
Dwarf palm (Chamaerops humilis) the only wild palm species in Europe that has large populations here. One
Hiking by the sea is planned. Lunch break in San Vito Lo Capo, the beautiful seaside resort on the west side of the island. Continue
to Erice on Monte San Giuliano enthroned at 750 meters altitude. The panoramic views that you get from here are unique
enjoys, be it to Trapani and the Aegadian Islands as well as to Monte Cofano. Take a walk through the picturesque medieval streets and see the main church "Santa Maria dell' Assunta", the mighty city walls from Phoenician times and the remains of the Venusburg. Of course, a sample of the delicious Ericini (cookies) is a must before we leave Erice. KM 80 time: approx. 09:00 – 17:00

3° Day

Monreale, Palermo, Cammarata

Early morning departure to Palermo. A unique cultural mix makes Palermo one of the most interesting cities in Europe. as
first you will visit one of the most important sacred buildings of the Middle Ages, the Cathedral of Monreale and its cloister.
Then continue towards the center of the city, here you will visit the Palatine Chapel in the Norman Palace, the Cathedral
with the Royal Tombs, Quattro Canti, the Martorana Church, Piazza Vigliena. Afterwards you take an orientation tour through the capital of Sicily to get an impression of the most important testimonies of the entire city. Continue to Corleone, made famous by Mario Puzo's novel "The Godfather". Then to Cammarata, one of the most popular recreational areas in the province of Agrigento, due to its unique townscape (which stretches on a steep slope from 600 to 950 meters high), where you will reach your next accommodation. Tonight you will be served a typical dinner with specialties from the area.

4° Day

Park of the Sicani Mountains

 

Highly interesting towns, breathtaking landscapes and Mediterranean delights, that's how you could spend this day in
summarize in a few words. Drive via Lercara Friddi, (place of origin of Frank Sinatra's father) to Prizzi, where a
Walk in the Corso is planned and on to Palazzo Adriano, where Giuseppe Tornatore shot his award-winning OSKAR film
"Nuovo Cinema Paradiso". Then visit to the Eremo in Santo Stefano di Quisquina of St. Rosalia.
KM 90 time: approx. 08:30 – 16:00

5° Day

Agrigento, Piazza Armerina

 

 

Here you will visit the World Heritage City that Pindar described as the "Most Beautiful City of Mortals". You take a long walk through the Valley of the Temples and see, among other things, the Hera, the Concordia, the Zeus, the Castor and Pollux Temple and the Temple of Heracles, which seduces you into the mythical city of antiquity. We extend our walk to the Kolymbetra Gardens, a secret tip for nature lovers. Continue to Piazza Armerina. Here you will visit the Roman Villa del Casale, believed to have been the luxurious country home of a member of the Roman aristocracy, which in turn is a World Heritage Site. The floors of the 40 rooms are covered with almost completely preserved mosaics, which cover a total area of about 3,000 square meters. Dinner and overnight stay in an agriturismo in the area of Piazza Armerina. KM 160 time: approx. 08:30 – 17:30

6° Day

Caltagirone, Noto, Siracusa

First you will visit the monumental staircase that leads to the Church of Santa Maria del Monte. Then you will go to Noto, the
along with 7 other cities in the southeast, represent the World Heritage Site of the Sicilian Baroque. You will then reach Syracuse, the largest and most powerful city of the Greek era. Here you first visit the archaeological zone, see the "Latomie del Paradiso" and the Seilergrotte, as well as the ear of Dionisos, the theatre, the sacrificial altar of Hieron and the Roman amphitheater. Continue to Ortigia, here you will see the old town of Syracuse and take a walk to the Arethusa Spring, the Cathedral and the Temple of Apollo. Dinner and overnight in a beautiful country house in Etna area - Catania. KM 220 time: approx. 08:00 – 18:00

7° Day

Etna, Taormina

 

Enjoy the amenities of your accommodation (pool, horseback riding, hiking, bocce and country activities), or would you like
explore the area independently? Just a few km away are the archaeological excavations of Lentini,
the Archaeological Regional Museum of Carlentini and the UNESCO Area of ​​Pantalica. With intercity buses you can also easily reach the second largest city on the island, Catania, which is 30 km away. Or join our optional excursion to Mount Etna and Taormina. You drive through lemon and orange plantations with unique landscape panoramas to the largest still active volcano in Europe, Etna. The journey takes you to the "Silvestri Crater" at an altitude of approx. 2,000 m. From here you have the option of taking the cable car up to 2,600 m or by jeep up to around 3,000 m (price € 68.00 p.p.). There are numerous hiking trails to explore here. In the afternoon, continuation to Taormina. Visit to the ancient theater and stroll through the medieval streets. KM 200 time: approx. 08:30 – 18:00

8° Day
